Youth Alternatives provides a week-long residential camping experience for up to 150 income eligible youth from Venango & Crawford Counties. The objective of this camp is to provide mentoring and positive role models for the youth, and to expose them to the many fun-filled activities of residential camping.
Each staff member and volunteer bring something different to the program, but best of all, each enjoys working with youth, and each is a positive role model, friend, and mentor to the youth campers.
This is the 17th year the Children’s Camp has been under Youth Alternatives, Inc.
Camp is generally held around the first week in August and runs Sunday through Saturday. This 2021 year’s camp is August 1st - August 7th.
The location for camp is the Beaumont Scout Reservation in Rock Creek, Ohio. Youth Alternatives Children’s Camping Services rents the facility for this week-long program.
Children are transported to the camp by 3 buses, which meet at the Oil City Senior High School Parking lot.
Camp Activities include arts & crafts, swimming & swim instruction, boating, fishing, zipline, rock climbing wall, sports, games, nature hikes, educational & interpretive programs, music & sing-a-longs, campfires, and much needed “free” time.
Campers are housed in cabins by age and gender, each holding about 20-25 campers supervised by 5-8 counselors and several junior counselors. We are looking for positive role models to be leaders for these kids for the week!
