Who We Are
DeBence Antique Music World is a music museum that focuses on the preservation and demonstration of all kinds of historic music and musical machines. The collection has been in Franklin for 60 years, originating with Jake and Elizabeth DeBence. After their death a non-profit was formed to keep this world-class assemblage of musical machines and music technology in Franklin. Today the museum displays and plays instruments for the public on our guided tours, educates school kids throughout the region, hosts exceptional talent in our free concert series, and works to preserve our shared musical heritage. The museum is spread out over 4 floors with 12,000 sq ft of display space and over a thousand objects demonstrating the development of music from the earliest music boxes to console systems and jukeboxes. We are always seeking people to help us in a variety of positions tour guide, secretary, social media, office assistant, repair, historian, and others.
What We Do
Our mission is to provide education and enjoyment for the public by sustaining, preserving, exhibiting, and demonstrating an extensive collection of mechanical music instruments and other music related items, in an environment appropriate to the age of the instruments. The Museum will serve as a “see and hear” experience for all visitors.
